“Growing Hope”

Original 11 x 14” Oil on Canvas

Sometimes the rainiest, toughest days can produce a moment of beauty. I’m not always sure what drives us to continue on those days: sheer obstinacy, the inability to quit, the knowledge that things can’t get much worse….or something truly special: hope. This painting represents that feeling: a pushing forward despite the obstacles, and the reward of a bright, beautiful moment.

Canvas Size: Horizontal 11 x 14 inch canvas. 7/8” deep with lovingly finished sides.

Completed: 2023

Materials: Original oil painting on cotton canvas with satin varnish, finished with a lovely maple floater frame and ready to hang.

From the Artist

Rain had been falling steadily on the tulip fields, producing muddy runnels between the rows and driving off other visitors. I’m honestly not sure why we decided to visit that day, the rain and the wind made the entire prospect unappealing. Plus, if I’m being honest, the day had been a tough one from the beginning. But we had a plan and we moved ahead. In the end, I was beyond grateful that I had come: the weather had driven off most others, leaving us nearly alone in a field full of beauty. I realized that perseverance is sometimes rewarded, bad days turn around, and that flowers continue to be a symbol of hope.
